Sonia Alins is an illustrator and artist focused on creating works of art where drawing goes beyond two dimensions. She incorporates collages made of transparent layers and other materials, partly inspired by the art of Yves Klein and the three-dimensional pieces of Joseph Cornell.
With an artistic style that blends elements of Surrealism and Romanticism, the central figures in Sonia's work are almost exclusively women. Her art connects us to the female iconography of the Romantic era, such as Ingres' odalisques or John Everett Millais' Ophelia, as well as the Art Deco movement (like Tamara de Lempicka) and the symbolism of Gustav Klimt.
Her Water Women series consists of subtle and delicate collages, featuring expressive figures emerging from an undefined aquatic environment. Sonia Alins explores, in a unique and suggestive way, concepts like Surrealism, visual poetry, and feminism. She plays with transparency and blur, creating different levels of perception and adding depth to her pieces through a carefully planned and minimalist combination of materials. This creative process allows Sonia Alins to generate ethereal atmospheres in a minimalist manner.
Additionally, Sonia Alins receives commissions from companies to create works that are later published in magazines, advertising campaigns, and other media. Her work has been featured in Spain, Italy, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Scotland.
