The artist Maribel García a Galeria Espai Cavallers

Maribel García Benito (Madrid, 1968) grew up surrounded by nature in San Lorenzo del Escorial, a city nestled in the mountains of Madrid. From an early age, she felt a deep attraction to creation and artistic expression. Her formal studies led her to pursue a degree in Interior Architecture, but over time, she decided to dedicate herself fully to her true passion: painting.

A largely self-taught artist, Maribel has also enriched her practice through studies with renowned painters such as J. Luis Ocio at Taller del Prado, Javier Pérez at Estudio Artificio, and Consuelo Chacón at Estudio 25 Artistas. In 2015, she established her own studio in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid), marking a significant step in her artistic journey.

Her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Spain, earning her recognition and awards. More recently, her career has expanded onto the international stage, with participation in contemporary art fairs across Europe, including Amsterdam, Bologna, Berlin, Lille, Montpellier, Lisbon, and Madrid.

"Through art, the everyday can be disrupted, revealing new perspectives that invite us into alternative realities. Daily life carries not only a profound poetic force but also a symbolic one. The spaces we inhabit, whether real or imagined, are filled with memory, absence, and intimate emotions. My work explores these personal environments, capturing places where people exist only in their absence—seemingly anonymous spaces imbued with deep autobiographical meaning. Here, images transcend representation to become symbols of my reality."
