Women artists have faced throughout history different and constant challenges and discrimination. At the Espai Cavallers Gallery we have been committed, for years, to visualize the work of women artists.
This year 2024, to the already traditional exhibition of women artists, we present the exhibition Dona i Terra with the participation of the following artists of the Espai Cavallers Gallery: Sònia Alins, Alexandra Balaguer, Lily Brick, Olga Cortadelles, Tamara Dahlke, Elsa Garate, Carole Puéo, Palmira Ríos, Aurembiaix Sabaté, Anna Terricabras and Mireia Serra.
In this exhibition project, each of them has invited a non-regular artist to the Gallery to make a dialogue with her own work and enrich the concept of the exhibition through her perspective.
On the one hand, this exhibition aims to be a visual and reflective experience where we want to explore the intersection between women's creativity and their connection with nature, that is, the harmonious relationship between artistic expression, femininity and the earth; femininity in relation to nature through painting, sculpture, street art and weaving, which will show us the harmony with natural environments, highlighting the beauty and strength of both.
On the other hand, they want to show their concern for the climate emergency and the unequal relationship between human beings and nature with the aim to provide a unique platform through women's art to express the complexity of the relationship between women and the climate emergency, creating awareness and promoting positive actions.
Around the exhibition there will also be a round table discussion between two of the participating artists and two women who will explain their reality in the rural environment, showing their connection to the land and their vital role in the farming communities.
