Artist biography
Carme Aliaga
Carmen Aliaga was born in Terrassa in 1971 where she lives and works.
She has a degree in Fine Arts, specializing in painting, from the University of Barcelona.
“I am interested in the city as a metaphor of human complexity, always under construction. How we build on what already exists, on previous configurations. I love the effect that the light projects on architectures, the geometries that it draws, the games and dialogues that it generates, the voids that it creates.
I work with collage to make this contradiction between the solidity of the architectures and the fragility of the paper more palpable, emphasizing the wear, the trace and the memory. It is a way of reminding us that everything is vulnerable, imperfect, uncertain and fragile.”
