It is in Masina, a densely populated area of Kinshasa, where Isuba lives and observes with fascination the daily lives of the city’s children. In his work, he depicts them with simplicity and modesty, as he believes they are the future of society. In 2020, this young painter born in Kinshasa earned his degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in painting (Kinshasa Academy of Fine Arts). A musician in his free time, Isuba creates his works with strokes and symbols that punctuate the composition like notes on a musical score.

My work is based on my vision of my country’s socioeconomic situation. Faced with the various issues that arise in Congolese daily life, I question the future and the community, especially focusing on children as symbols of the future and regeneration.

The “Kolwezi” series is my reflection on the mining situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The industrialization of Congolese resources, which I see as the key to development. The presence of children in the mines illustrates the exploitation of children in a way that is destroying their future. It reflects my perception of the future of my society.
