Description of the work
The work S/T (Julio Vaquero) is by the artist Julio Vaquero. Engraving technique on paper. Measures 93 x 76 cm. Series 13/25. Knights Space Gallery.
Vaquero was born in 1958 and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in Barcelona. His first exhibition arrived in 1987, also in the Catalan capital, and since then he has exhibited individually in Spain, Italy and the United States, and has also been present at many international art fairs. To all these places he has brought his contemporary and fresh style, which has also earned him that several recognized collections have his work.
THE YEAR 2001,
his works were part of the collective exhibition Between Heaven and Earth; New Classical movements in the Art of today at the Museum of Modern Art in Oostende, Belgium. In 2005 his first series of exhibitions of drawings on tracing paper was held in Madrid at the Trama Gallery in Madrid. In 2007, he also exhibited in the shows Mimesis et inventio and Im Licht der Wirklichkeit, both at the Panorama Museum in Bad Frankenhausen, Germany. On May 5, 2011, Vaquero opened two simultaneous exhibitions under the name The end of appearances; at Arts Santa Mònica at Espai Anella and as part of a collective exhibition at Galería Trama. At the beginning of 2014, he inaugurated his exhibition Search in Nobody's Land at the Vila Casas Foundation. The common thread of this was "to stage fragments of reality, retain the transience of time and reflect on our (man's) fragility"
Currently, he combines his work as a painter with that of artistic advisor to the Sorigué Foundation. In addition, he regularly gives lectures both at the university level and in other general areas on realistic and figurative painting. He has also been a member of the jury in several painting competitions. He is an expert in the work of Antonio López García and collaborated in 2011 on the TV2 program La Medida Invisible in the chapter dedicated to this painter.
