Ureña focuses his artistic production on the watercolor technique, especially in urban and interior themes with a new concept and large formats.
He has held more than seventy individual exhibitions and participated in more than a hundred group shows throughout Spain.
Joaquín Ureña has won forty national awards, among which stand out: Pámpana de Plata at the LV National Exhibition of Plastic Arts in Valdepeñas and 1st López-Villaseñor Prize for Painting in Ciudad Real in 1994; 1st Prize Fundació Díaz Caneja in Palencia; Reina Sofia Extraordinary Award and BMW Medal in Madrid in 1996; 1st Prize XL National Painting Competition Caja San Fernando in Seville in 1999. In 1998 he obtained the Morera Medal in Lleida.
Joaquín Ureña's work can be found in the collections of national museums, foundations and private collections: Almeria Museum Art Center, Díaz Caneja Foundation (Palencia), City Museum (Madrid), López-Villaseñor Museum. (Real City), Municipal Museum (Valdepeñas), Focus-Abengoa Foundation (Seville), Ibercaja (Zaragoza), Adolfo Lozano-Sidro Municipal Trust (Priego de Córdoba), Morera Museum (Lleida) etc.

Joaquín Ureña
The painter Joaquín Ureña (Lleida, 1946) focuses his artistic creation on the watercolour technique on urban and interior themes with a new concept and large formats.
He has made more than seventy solo exhibitions and has participated in more than one hundred collective exhibition throughout Spain.
He has obtained forty national awards, as: Silver Pámpana at the LV National Exhibition of Plastic Arts in Valdepeñas and the 1st López-Villaseñor Prize for Painting in Ciudad Real in 1994; 1st Prize Fundación Díaz Caneja in Palencia; Extraordinary Reina Sofía Prize and BMW Medal in Madrid in 1996; 1st Prize XL National Painting Contest Caja San Fernando in Seville in 1999. In 1998 he obtained the Morera Medal in Lleida.
